With grateful thanks to our many supporters, we have established a Community Garden on a plot of land behind Ison House, behind Mambourin Sensory Gardens
Throughout Winter our keen gardeners have been adding manure, compost and mulch to the beds. The tiller machine has been put to great use to turn over the soil and mix in the composted materials. The glasshouse is being utilised to grow early seedlings, and we are now planting out our new crops of tomatoes, lettuces, soybeans, rocket, and beetroot.
We have a regular Working Bee in the garden each Thursday morning, starting at 9.30 am. till 11.00 am.
The Karen Seniors are justifiably pleased with their Wicking beds which were made by a Work group from the Horn of Africa Community Network, using IBC containers. We hope that the beds wil require less watering and produce good crops of various vegetables to be enjoyed by all. An excellent effort from Minh Khim and his workers!
Entry to the garden is via the cyclone fence gate in Walls Road!
New gardeners and visitors are most welcome!
We are very grateful for the valuable assistance given to us from: Mambourin Enterprises, Wyndham City Council, Port Philip Prison, Werribee and Hoppers Crossing Rotary Clubs, Werribee and Hoppers Crossing Apex, Bunnings Warehouse Pty Ltd, Alex Fraser Pty Ltd, GForce, Wyndham Rainbow Neighbours, Williams Landing and The Anderson Family
Water melons can be found hidden away!
A new addidtion to our garden is the Bee Hotel - designed to give the Australian Native Bee varieties a place to rest.
